How They Compare

Why the Default DJI Conversion LUT Falls Short

Person in sunglasses with beach balls under striped umbrella; woman films with camera; pink and purple lighting.Woman smiling holding beach ball under yellow umbrella, filmed by another woman with camera, in vibrant pink and purple lighting.
When you compare DJI’s default Conversion LUT to Gamut’s Osmo Pocket 3 BaseLUT, the difference is clear. DJI’s LUT often clips saturated colors and distorts color accuracy, while also pushing a heavy contrast into your footage that loses important shadow detail. Our BaseLUT is engineered for precise color rendition, preserving true-to-life tones, and maximizing the dynamic range of your footage. By carefully protecting highlight detail and optimizing every color channel, Gamut LUTs deliver cleaner, more accurate, and more professional results—giving you a better foundation for grading than the standard DJI LUTs.

We designed our Gamut BaseLUT to work not only in Rec709 but also in DaVinci Wide Gamut. Since DaVinci Resolve doesn’t offer a built-in Color Space Transform for “D-Log M”, we created a custom technical transform for you. Now, you can easily set up your node tree to convert D-Log M footage directly into DaVinci Wide Gamut / DaVinci Intermediate. From there, you can color grade in a wider, more flexible color space and then transform your footage into your final output—whether that’s Rec709, HDR, or another display format. This workflow gives you maximum control over your image while ensuring consistent, color-accurate results.
